"I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it"

We all inadvertently say dumb things, some of us more frequently than others. Myself however, I have been guilty of saying dumb stuff just to gauge a reaction.
I first caught myself doing this several years ago. The idea behind the game was to start a rumour, and see if you could recognise it once it had gone 'round the workplace several times. Nothing nasty, just an interesting game of Chinese whispers. I gave the game up before it came back to bite me in the backside, but it was entertaining, and interestingly, the rumour would often turn out to be rather prophetic.
But my favourite "brain off, mouth on" moment still brings me a large amount of amusement.
It's a flash back several years ago to my days in retail. In a quiet lunchroom one morning, I loudly stated
"man, you know some mornings, I can really sympathise with Hitler."
I dropped a deliberate pause in as the stunned and disgusted looks greeted me before reluctantly deciding to finish.
"yeah, I can see why he had that mustache you know. It's a real pain in the jaxi having to shave under your nose at times..."
Some of those people never looked at me the same way again....
