"Although we look awake, inside we're all still sleeping"
- Rise Against, Wake me up Inside (The Sufferer and the Witness, 2006)
Life is about all about timing. It's like the stars aligning when it all comes together nicely. But life isn't always like this...
Being an early riser (4:30am, 6 days a week), caffeine is my best friend. Be it from a (triple strength) Coffee or energy drink, it doesn't matter. Heck I'd even take it intravenously if I could.
Operating on caffeine, I liken myself to a Turbocharged engine. When I'm at full boost, I'm working at peak capacity. If I forgo my usual intake, I'm as good as having a blown exhaust manifold. Like a big turbocharger, it takes me a while to wind up.
Now here's the issue; My "turbo" usually produces peak efficiency about three hours after I've started my shift, or by the time I have had my third beverage. The first three hours at work however are generally the busiest. When things start winding down, it incidentally happens to be when I'm winding up.
The rest of the day beyond that could be called a waste of energy - literally, as I generally spend the rest of the day free spooling.
Perhaps when I'm due for reconditioning, I should maybe look at fitting a smaller turbocharger....
