A couple of weeks ago, a woman from another department at work collapsed and went home for the day, via the doctors office. Speculation around the site claimed that the reason she dropped could be attributed to the fact that she is notoriously known for skipping lunch. This should have been a concern as it is a habit I am guilty of doing also.
But I thought nothing of it...
Usually I eat a light breakfast, skip lunch, reserving myself for chomping into a big meal once I get home. Usually, I can get away doing this no problem at all. On Monday, it was almost my undoing...
Professionally, it has been a pretty intense week, dealing with a higher than usual workload due to increased demands from the chiefs at head office. Financially, this is great as it mean overtime rates. But I had to stay on my feet first.
Crawling into my second hour past normal punch out, the white haze started approaching. Gaping yawns followed, and at one point, I (like my colleague a couple of weeks before) nearly crashed and hit the deck myself. Against all odds, I somehow got to the end of it all. But it was enough to scare me, and even coffee couldn't shake me from it
Following Mondays episode, I've tucked into huge meals at a sensible time everyday this week.
I now cannot stress the importance of making sure you eat at least three meals a day.
I think it's time to get the message through to my colleague.
