A story about a guy who's got it good...

An old work buddy resurfaced on Facebook a few weeks ago. I say "resurfaced", 'cos his account had been deactivated sometime ago. I  became aware of his reappearance when he left a comment on a tagged photo proclaiming that I need a haircut. He was always good for a ribbing. But I won't deny that I need a haircut
Anyway, my former colleague is living proof that following your heart will lead you to a good life. And I couldn't be more happier for him.
We had both been working in the Cycle department of an inner city retail store for a good period of time, when he started talking to one particular girl that he had history with back in High school. She was now living in Perth, Western Australia, and before he knew it, he was on three weeks leave to fly over for a catch up.
By his own admission, three weeks hadn't been long enough, and his new lady also agreed. So she quit her job and everything else to set up in Christchurch again, until they plotted their next move. Despite punters questioning whether things were moving too fast, they didn't let anyone get to them, and from the outset, it was obvious how smitten they were with each other.
Within three months of her arrival, they got hitched, and plans to move back to Perth had been arranged. My Buddy said that it "just felt like the right thing to do". As a couple, they were so head over heels that they both took each others names in marriage. Personally, I think the guy was a gentleman just for doing that.
A joint 21st/ leaving party was held as a goodbye (one that I got awfully drunk at I might add), but by the time they were due to depart, they had some even bigger news; they were expecting their first child. My Buddy was over the moon.
I didn't hear much from him after that, but every now and then we'd Facebook chat each other to talk 'shop',
Many didn't expect their relationship to last, but 5 years on, they are still together, still in WA, now with another little one. Most importantly, they are loving life everyday.

Here's to you my friend, thanks for teaching me that fairy tales do happen in real life...
